I didn't realize how very seriously Americans take their cars. On this latest trip (across Pennsylvania), I've listened to a LOT of radio, and heard a LOT of adds. On Ford ads for hybrid, they make sure to point out that a hybrid can help you reduce your nation's reliance on foreign oil. On Hyundai ads, they say AMERICA and AMERICAN really loudly about 15 times to downplay the fact that they're a foreign automarker. And I think it's GM... not sure, but I think it is... they have an ad showing how they employ more Americans than all the foreign automakers combined.
Crazy. I'm not American, so I can't say for sure, but I'm not sure that patriotism would be one of the primary factors in my decision on a car to buy...
